A huge thank you to everyone who joined us in Albany for Advocacy Day 2018. What
a successful day! Over 350 attendees came together to discuss the issues affecting
the Occupational Therapy profession, and the patients and clients it serves.

Our Legislative & Governmental Chair, Jeffrey Tomlinson, and our incredible lobbyist,
Glenn Riddell, addressed the crowd. We were briefed on coordinated health care systems,
insurance reform for rehabilitation services, and an early intervention cost adjustment
of 2%. We discussed legislation that would allow for OT to provide treatment beyond
the twenty visit limit, and legislation that would permit OTAs to provide treatment under
the Workers Compensation program.

We heard from Senator Jamaal Bailey, Senator Joseph Addabbo and Senator Timothy
Kennedy, who shared with us his inspiring journey from Occupational Therapist to the
political arena.

Each of the speakers reiterated the importance of staying involved and continuing to
advocate for our profession. Join NYSOTA, volunteer, and keep reaching out to your
elected officials. Together, we can make a difference!

Congrats! How or where can we find out the outcome for the proposed bill relating to cutting OT visits through medicaid. I had messaged Defrancisco on this issue, and heard nothing back from his office... thanks Kim
